We are looking for experienced team players to fill the position of Systems/Mainframe COBOL Tech Lead and participate in our up-and-coming project for our client from the telecommunication industry.
Project goals: stabilize and modernize critical DMS core flows on mainframe, ensuring reliability, compliance, and integration with distributed services.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Mainframe workstream for a large Dealer Management System (Automotive) program.
- Own solution design, development, and maintenance for COBOL/CICS/JCL workloads on z/OS.
- Plan capacity and delivery for a 12–15-engineer team; conduct code/design reviews; enforce standards and security.
- Drive performance optimization and stability (batch/online), SLA adherence, and incident “code red” handling.
- Coordinate with Java/.NET teams, integration, and data teams for end-to-end delivery.
- Mentor and upskill engineers; contribute to roadmap (modernization, API/MQ integrations).
Requirements
Requirements
- 12–13 years in mainframe dev/support/deployment; proven Team Lead experience (12–15 engineers).
- Strong COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and z/OS tooling/change management.
- Performance engineering on batch/online workloads; incident/problem management.
- Stakeholder communication and cross-team collaboration (distributed systems).
- German B2+ and English B2+.
Preferred:
- Integrations with distributed systems (API/MQ), file/stream bridges.
- ITIL exposure (change/incident/problem), regulated/mission-critical environments.
- Automation for build/deploy on mainframe; quality gates and static analysis.
