We are looking for experienced team players to fill the position of Mainframe (COBOL) Support Engineer L1 / L2 and participate in our up-and-coming project for our client from the automotive industry.
Responsibilities:
- Provide L1/L2 production support for Mainframe-based components (COBOL stack) within a mission-critical environment.
- Triage incidents and coordinate escalations to L3 teams/vendors, tracking issues to closure and maintaining clear stakeholder communication.
Monitor operational health and stability; collect diagnostics (job outputs, logs, interface traces, DB evidence) and contribute to RCA.
- Support releases/rollouts (cutovers, verification, post-release monitoring) and environment coordination.
- Maintain and improve runbooks/KB articles; drive repeat-incident reduction and faster MTTR.
- Work in a shift model (08:00–18:00) with occasional on-call/weekend support during rollouts/releases.
Requirements
- 2-3 years in L1/L2 application / production support in enterprise environments with Mainframe exposure.
- Practical knowledge of COBOL / z/OS ecosystem and diagnostics (jobs/batches, logs, interfaces, DB access patterns).
- Experience operating within SLAs and collaborating across Dev/Infra/Security teams.
- DMS or Automotive experience; performance/stability hardening exposure.
- German B2+ and English B2+.
Preferred:
- ITSM (ServiceNow) and monitoring/alerting platforms.
